Beloved Books becoming Films // Great Expectations

Great Expectations is a novel by Charles Dickens. It depicts the growth and personal development of an orphan boy named Pip, who suddenly becomes a gentleman with the help of an unknown benefactor. The novel was first published in serial form in Dickens' weekly periodical All the Year Round, from 1 December 1860 to August 1861. It is set among the marshes of Kent and in London in the early-to-mid 1800s.

In 1998, Alfonso Cuaron directed a modernized version placed in the 1990s in New York, starring Ethan Hawke, Gwyneth Paltrow, Al Pacino and Anne Bancroft among others. Some of the key characters' names have also been changed. It is all about growing up and realizing that what is obvious is not always true.

Kissing passionately in the rain (my favorite scene)

A life-changing revelation...

Last night I watched the trailer of the book's latest installment directed by Mike Newell, which will be released later this year, starring Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham and Ralph Fiennes as Magwitch!

It is a great book to read and a wonderful movie to watch.

I am wishing you all a great and creative weekend!
